C30 Connotation

Scope note:

This class models the integration of an entity into the individual representations of a person, or the social representations of a human collective, with a context specific connotation, classification, social quality or characterization, during a given time-span. A person or intentional collective considers that the adopted connotation, i.e. intentional quality or type, applies to the concerned entity. The integrated entity can be an actor, a physical or conceptual object, a text, an event, etc. E.g. a celebrated battle is integrated as the founding event of a country's independence into the representations of its indigenous inhabitants, or a portion of them.

The personal or collective view, classification or interpretation of the entity, i.e. its individual or social connotation conceived as a (shared) qualification of it, becomes part of the representations it is integrated into. The propositional explanation, when explicit expressed, is associated to the connotation with the inherited sdh:P34 has content property while the sdh:P40 has context (is context of) property situates the concerned connotation within the wider context of the (social) representations it belongs to. As for the connotated object, it is associated to the connotation with the sdh:P39 is connotation of property and the connotating quality with the sdh:P21 is qualified by property.
