Scope note

Text

This class models the social fact of having a more or less formally defined social role or function in a group at a given moment or during a given time-span. The social role is modelled as an embodiment by a (Human) Actor of a Social Actor. It provides the (Human) Actor with prerogatives and rights that are exercised with respect to other persons and groups. It is therefore modelled as a social connotation, i.e. a social qualification of an Actor.

From the actor's point of view, the social fact of membership in a group is associated with the social quality of being a member. From the group's point of view, however, membership makes the group exist as an intentional collection. Therefore, memberships are expressed in SDHSS using using the sdh-slc:C5 Membership class.
