This class comprises positions or regions in an abstract, conceptual space defined by a conventionally defined reference system, such as for measuring time, space, colors, ranges of values, etc. As such, the classes crm:E52 Time-span, crm:E53 Place, crm:E54 Dimension are all abstract regions in the sense of indicating a region or position in a reference system (a date in a calendar, geocoordinates, a value in a measuring system).
This view is consistent with the top-level category 'Abstract' and the notion of 'Region' introduced by the foundational ontology DOLCE (Gangemi 2002).
