Scope note

Text

This class comprises spatial descriptions expressed according to the Geographic Coordinate System (GCS), referring to a 3D spherical surface (longitude and latitude) and defining positions on the Earth. It measures locations in angular units—degrees—from the centre of the Earth, with latitude measuring North/South of the Equator and longitude measuring East/West of the Prime Meridian. These pairs of values (long, lat) are situated in the WGS 1984 (EPSG:4326) standard World Geodetic System.
