Candidate
Scope note
- Text
This class comprises instances of individual or collective intentionality through which a person or an intentional collective holds and shares the belief that a given Linguistic Object is to be understood, within a specific context of use, as instantiating or being characterised by a particular Linguistic Object Type.
As a subclass of sdh:C30 Connotation, this class emphasises that the association between a Linguistic Object and a Linguistic Object Type is an intentional and interpretative qualification that exists during a given time-span and within a defined linguistic, documentary, or research context. The classification is not assumed to be intrinsic to the linguistic object, nor universally valid, but contingent upon the conventions, objectives, or analytical perspectives of the agents concerned.
