Scope note for the class Research Concept Classification – C22 Back
Candidate
Scope note
- Text
This class comprises instances of individual or collective intentionality through which a person or an intentional collective—most commonly a research project, research team, or scholarly community—holds and shares the belief that a given Research Concept is to be understood, within a specific research context, as instantiating or being characterised by a particular Research Concept Type.
As a subclass of sdh:C30 Connotation, this class emphasises that the association between a Research Concept and a Research Concept Type is an intentional, interpretative qualification that exists during a given time-span and within a defined research context. The classification is not assumed to be inherent to the concept, nor universally valid, but contingent upon the theoretical framework, methodological orientation, disciplinary conventions, or analytical objectives that shape the shared representations of the agents involved.
