Scope note

Text

This property associates an instance of sdh:C13 Geographical Place with the type which defines its identity. Because this type is identity-defining, a Geographical Place can only have one Geographical Type, defined in a controlled vocabulary.

Geographical Place Types are different from Geographical Place Kinds

Unlike Geographical Place Kinds that are specifications of Geographical Places (they could be as such conceptualised as subclasses of Geographical Place) and are supposed be be shared across different projects, Geographical Place Types are a specific classification of a Geographical Place by a project. As such, a Geographical Place Type is a specification of a Geographical Place Kind.
