Semantic TEI Modelling Project
Semantic TEI Modelling Project
Description:
This project describes significant aspects of the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) standard as a set of semantic classes and properties. The features included in the project constitute a subset of TEI XML elements and attributes. The selection of these was made on the basis of the implementation of TEI used by the Semper Edition project (www.semper-edition.ch) of 19th-century manuscripts. It inlcudes elements commonly used as part of the TEI header as well as key fetures of text described in the TEI core module relating to representation of prose. Starting with this subset as a foundation stone, this project aims to provide a starting point for a broader effort to model the TEI semanitcally.
The modelling work carried out in this project has the wider goal of being applicable within the TEI community generally as a way to bridge the semantic gap between tei texts and other linked data. The semantic modelling bases itself generally on the event-centric framework of the CIDOC CRM model and the institutional fact-centric framework of the CRMaaa standards.
