Embroidery is a flat or raised ornamentation added to the surface of a pre-existing background, usually fabric or leather. It consists of stitches made with cotton, silk, wool, gold, silver or, possibly, other materials and produced by hand or mechanically, using a needle or a hook. It can also include ornaments (braids, ganses, or pieces of fabric cut in advance) and fixed on the bottom.
