Text

The Intentional Situation class is inspired by and modelled according to the foundational views of the Descriptions and Situations ontology, cf. Gangemi A. et al.,« From collective intentionality to intentional collectives: An ontological perspective. », Cogn. Syst. Res. 7, no 2‑3 (2006): 192‑208, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cogsys.2005.11.009. This class models social events conceived as situations that interpret physical events, as facts in the world, according to descriptions. Thus, it corresponds to the ontology desing pattern DescriptionAndSituation. In the context of social sciences (sociology, social psychology) descriptions are to be considered as equivalent to social representations.

In this context, the P33 satisfies (is satisfied by) property, associating the Situation to the Description in which it becomes 'visible', associates the Social Event to the Social Representation class. The P43 has setting property, associating a social event with the event or events in the world, that are perceived as being the realization of a description, is equivalent to the SettingFor relation but expressed in the inverse direction. The associated perdurants in the ground ontology (here the CIDOC CRM) are the setting of the situation.
